Who are we?

We’re a small family run business based in Great Offley a beautiful village just outside Hitchin in Hertfordshire, and we have a fantastic team who take their work seriously but also like to have some fun, you’ll find us professional but we’re not stuffy or unapproachable.

What sets us apart? Unlike many others in our industry, we operate from dedicated premises equipped specifically for rug cleaning. This ensures meticulous care and superior results, unlike some who are happy to clean on the driveway or in the garage, yours or theirs.

Gold Star Rug Care was born in January 2001 – as part of Gold Star Furnishing Care by Dean & Marie, our mission was clear, to create a business that prioritises customer care and trust. Over the years, many of our earliest clients have not just remained customers but have become cherished friends. They’ve witnessed our journey—our children growing up, leaving school, and starting families of their own.

All of the team, except for Top Dog Coco, although he does like a nice rug, have great knowledge of rugs and are continuously learning through extensive training courses in- house and offsite at training schools, so you can be sure we’re giving your rugs the best clean and care and you the best service and advice.

When you contact us you’ll likely speak to Jade or Michael. If we’re busy Marie might even take your call. They’ll take the time to understand your rug cleaning needs and answer any questions—no hard sell, just honest advice, that’s one of the things we pride ourselves on.

Gary or Hayden will collect your rug, though you’re welcome to drop it into us, we’re more than happy for you to do that, and you get to say hello to Coco too. We’ll even make you a coffee or tea, but there is a fantastic cafe on site where you’ll get a fantastic coffee and amazing food, tell them we sent you.

It’s then down to Dean to get your rug looking fresh, clean and bright again.

What do we do?

Simply put, we specialise in cleaning rugs of all types, ensuring they are cleaned safely and correctly.

We don’t just clean rugs from Great Offley, that wouldn’t keep us very busy, we’ll collect your rugs from most areas in Herts & Beds, but don’t worry if you’re in another area, we can usually sort something out, you’re welcome to drop your rugs to us or we may still be able to collect them but they’ll probably be an additional cost to collect and return them. We’ve cleaned rugs from all over the UK, some dropped into us others have been couriered to us.
